NT Service Permissions

A Carapace NT Service runs using the environment of a user on the machine. This allows you to restrict the type of actions the service can perform, since it will only be able to do tasks which that particular user could perform.

In our example, we use Carapace to register a service called Carapace Web Server.

To set the service's permissions, click the Services icon on the NT ControlPanel. This brings up the following dialog:

permissions

You can then scroll down to the name of your Carapace service -- Carapace Web Server in our example -- and double-click the name. This shows you the following:

permissions

This dialog shows the service as running with the user webmaster's permissions. Of course, this requires that Carapace has been installed for user webmaster.
