The CAT Installer puts a shortcut to the
Carapace Application Tracker in the Programs/Carapace
section of the startup menu. To start the system, navigate through the
start menu and select the Carapace Application Tracker application.
Once started, an icon is displayed in the system tray:
![]() |
Double-clicking this icon brings up a window which displays diagnostics from the CAT. The following example shows a typical startup listing:
The main user interface is accessed using a standard web browser to
the configured HTTP port.
The home page for the CAT is at
cat.htm.
For example, if the CAT is running a machine
with hostname cat.mycompany.com using the standard port 80
then the following URL will connect to the CAT top-level:
http://cat.mycompany.com/cat.htm
The CAT includes a monitor to show the state of the various parts of the system. This appears as a hyperlink at the bottom of the CAT home page.
In order to connect to the CAT a valid user name and password must be known. On installation, an initial user is created.
