Assessing an Application

Summary

The actions taken at this stage are:

  1. Determine whether to reject this CV or continue processing this application.
  2. Determine the most appropriate job for this candidate -- the 'best-fit' job from the previous stage may be changed if required.
  3. Determine the list of jobs for which this candidate is suitable -- the jobs are chosen from the list of available job types configured in CAT.
  4. Decide the next stage for this application -- this may be to arrange one of the configured types of interview, to put the candidate 'on hold', or to reject the application.

Detail

Once applications have been received and filtered, they are assessed to determine if the applicant is worth interviewing.

Users are configured within CAT and given the role of cv assessor for a given set of job types. When such a user connects to CAT, they are presented with the list of applications awaiting their assessment. The CV and covering letter are available to be seen at the click of a button.

Because some people prefer to work from a printed CV, CAT has a 'print all' button to print out all the displayed applications.

The assessor makes a recommendation -- such as reject, put 'on hold' or perform one of the configured types of interview. For example, suppose the following interview types have been configured:

  1. telephone interview
  2. face-to-face interview
  3. follow-up interview
The assessor can recommend the type of interview for the applicant. Also, the assessor can attach a comment to the application -- particularly useful if the recommendation is to put the applicant 'on hold' since the reason is well worth recording.

At the assessor's decision, the application enters one of the following states:

  1. on hold
  2. reject
  3. arrange an interview
